CBT


CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) is becoming a popular choice for many people suffering from stress-related conditions.

Whereas Hypnotherapy works on the unconscious mind, CBT works on the conscious mind.

Clients can learn how to use CBT strategies and techniques to change their way of thinking for positive results and lifestyle changes.

 

Cognitive Behavioural Treatment identifies problematic thoughts, which influence emotions and behaviour in negative ways. Retraining the brain to enforce positive changes in emotions and behaviour may install more balanced thought patterns leading to a happier and healthier life.

CBT challenges the 'automatic thoughts' - those which spring immediately into the mind. The mind is not disturbed by an action, event or another person but often by deep-rooted thought patterns putting a negative 'perception' on things

Learning to identify and challenge 'automatic thoughts' helps problem solving and being able to make decisions about whether or not they are actually 'fact'.

If your immediate thoughts prove to be true you can then try to work out a plan to solve them as a 'goal'. If they are not something that can be changed, then looking at the issue from a different angle may make it more acceptable or at least something you can live with, without the negative impact on your emotions and behaviour.

Most often 'automatic thoughts' are found to be dysfunctional and there are often simple ways to tackle them. CBT is often just 'common sense'!

  • Automatic thought: "I can't get this computer to work!"

  • Problem solving: Instead of losing your cool, and raising blood pressure! Ask a knowledgeable friend or colleague to help you, or maybe consider booking on a training course to enhance your computer skills.
